Why volunteer abroad is a life changing experience with amazing benefits of a life time

Volunteering abroad can present a myriad of benefits from immersion into a different culture, learning a language, trying new ethnic cuisines, adding to your global travel resume and making friends and acquaintances. This is without a doubt, life changing and will in the long-run impact several human lives. When you volunteer abroad it enables you to donate those skills to someone else in need.

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available abroad requiring varying skill sets from teaching English as a second language, providing medical care to impoverished communities, building homes, teaching elementary level education or trade skills.

If interested in learning a new language, volunteering abroad is highly recommended. Communication is usually an essential part of the job requirement and while volunteering, you get the opportunity to exchange a few words with locals in their native language, further enhancing your foreign language skills. The program requires great communication skills and interpreting the foreign language is essential.

Moreover, the traveling experience enables you to see outstanding historical sites. Eventually, making a list of the tour locations becomes an important chronological history, which also encourages others to voyage and contribute their time and skills. Also consider the benefits of making new friends and acquaintances.

Donate Books for Mobile Library Project in Eastern Ghana

Posted on Updated on

I want to a teacher when I grow up, so that I can help my family and friends in my village – words of Florence – Florence is 9 years old, living with her mother, two siblings and Grandma is Bomponso village. She loved to read, play with her friends and support her mother in the kitchen. She also helps her siblings after school with their home work and is a beneficiary of HAF’s Mobile Library Project – The mobile library project is an initiative of HAF which aim at  promoting quality education and literary in rural villages in Eastern Ghana.

Teaching children how to read, write and speak English plays a key role in every community’s development. Most children like Florence wouldn’t have the opportunity without HAF’s intervention. Our purpose is only achieved through your individual contribution and support. We focus our greatest effort in education, since it’s what most communities lack and due to their extremely low-income potential. Every child has the right to education and together we can meet the needs of children like Florence her dream is to become a teacher, support her family and other children in her village, who somehow are out of school.

You can do a little as donating a book, which will make a real in difference in the life of a child in need. One reading book to a child means, helping a child out of school learn something new, we are helping to bring learning materials and resource to better their education.  Many children like Florence do not attend school, because their parents can’t afford it, the little income they make from farming produce is used to prepare the family’s meal, with nothing being left for school or books.

We can make a real impact in the lives of these children just by contributing our time and effort to organize a book drive, donate school supplies and or fund for much needed materials to support our grassroots effort. You can donate reading books, test books, drawing books, English reading books and vocational materials. Books donated will be used by the children and youth in a rural village in the Eastern region of Ghana. Please contact us  at info@haidfoundation.org if you are interested in donating books.

Every child has the right to education

Posted on Updated on

Education to children in rural communities in Ghana means a brighter future, healthy life and freedom from poverty. Education begins with reading, learning and sharing the little things that inspire their potentials.  About 60% of children in rural villages in Ghana do not have access to quality education and thieving environment to study. These children are eager to study to become what they have always dreamt of, but the lack basic learning materials like reading, text books, color pencils, various educational materials and parent’s inability to afford their tuition due to extreme low income potentials limits these children from reaching their full potentials.

“When I think of where I’m now because of education, I feel obligate to pay it forward.” – Emmanuel Annang – CEO HAF

Could you imagine what your life or that of your children could have been without access to education? I believe our little individual effort can make a difference.

If you can donate a small, medium or lack box filled with basic educational materials, you make a difference in the life of a child today. All it takes is for you to clear your closet and basement and gather various learning materials and various items for children not useable but in good shape and donate to HAF. You can also make a donation through our website at www.haidfoundation.org

If you have any question or need more information on how to help please email us at info@haidfoundation.org

Thank you for taking the time, effort and resource to support HAF’s mission is making quality education accessible to all children in need.

You can help change a child’s life by sharing your time, talent and resources as a local community volunteer. We need community volunteers to mobilize their friends and family to sew, collect or prepare school supplies that we need for our school project in Bomponso village, Ghana. You can help by organizing these items yourself, or leading a collection at your office, school or place of church. When generous hearts come together, everyone can help make a real difference.

Compassionate supporters of HAF help share our cause with their family, friends and local community. We need your help to raise awareness of one of the challenging issues facing underprivileged children in Ghana “Education” & Malnutrition and encourage others to become involved.

Other ways you can help

Speak Up

As a community volunteer, you can share the story of Humanitarian Aid Foundation with your neighbors, local clubs, organizations or church groups. Education for underprivileged Children Project

Many children in the various deprived communities in Ghana lack access to quality education and decent learning environments. At HAF we believe education plays a key role in every child’s development and their communities, our primary focus is providing and improving educational opportunities for these underprivileged children.

We are currently working on building a new educational center that will provide these needy children with quality education and a thriving learning environment. Many of these children do not routinely attend school, because their families cannot afford to pay for their commute to and from and/or tuition(s) to attend school. Many of these younger children are subjected to daily harsh working environments: i.e., farms and markets.

Education is valuable and we believe it’s every child’s right. Every effort makes a difference, with your generous contribution of any kind; we can provide and improve educational opportunities for these children to help build their potentials, and become proactive change in their communities.

Alone we can do little, together we can do much. If you are interested in contributing your time volunteering to fundraise for our project, make a one time or monthly donation to support our “Education for All Children Project (EFAC), and other meaningful HAF project, please contact us.

We also have an open position, for volunteers interested in acting as HAF’s ambassadors in their communities, networking and creating awareness of HAF projects, and organize fundraising events to fund HAF projects. You little effort goes a long way to make a greater impact.

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” — Nelson Mandela

HAF Volunteer Layla shares her volunteer experience…
My experience in Ghana had been really great. Now that I’ve been here for three weeks I feel like I can do whatever I want and go wherever I want with no fear. Michael had helped me a lot in this process, teaching me how to spend a normal day here in Ghana and let me see how is his life or the lives of all the people here. Ghana is an amazing country with a nice culture and the people are always friendly and gently. Is true that is really different of my own culture and society, but it’s lovely to live your days like a Ghanaian person.
HAF staff had always took care of me, they got me a phone and an internet USB and making everything easier for me. HAF coordinator Michael was always there if I needed him. He called me always like twice in a day, at morning and at night to see how was I and how was my day and I’ve seen him almost every day.In the orphanage I’ve lived one of the most beautiful experiences in my life. All the children are polite and lovely and the love to play with us, the volunteers. I loved to go to the school and see them learning and help them whenever I could. I’ve also learned some songs they sang and enjoyed with them and the teacher. Then, back to the orphanage, I loved to see them eat and share everything like a real family. I am sad I have to go home.I met some people here, other volunteers, and with theme I lived more the Ghanaian experience. I’ve been out in the night or I’ve gone to the beach. That’s how I’ve seen how gently are the Ghanaian people, just because they treated us really nice and they took care of us.I’ve really splendid three weeks here like if I lived here, and I loved it. It is a great experience I recommend to everybody.
